Dubai, UAE, 12 November 2017: The third season of the Emirates Schools Karting Championship (ESKC), under the patronage of Mohammed Ben Sulayem, FIA Vice President and President of the Automobile and Touring Club for the UAE, officially kicked off on Sunday at Dubai Kartdrome with the opening round of the Senior category for students 13 to 18 years old.
The Nomad class, for teams with students from different schools racing together, dominated the night, with Sameer Mohideen, Samuel Garbutt and Mateo Moussaoui of Ghost Racing winning Round One in both class and the overall race.

Having won two previous Nomad titles, the veteran squad of Ghost Racing demonstrated solid driving and precision pit strategy on the way to victory. The team landed pole position with a best lap time of 1:10.451, and then went on to win the sixty minute endurance race by 1.610 seconds over another Nomad team, VDR Racing.

Samuel Garbutt of Ghost Racing said, “It was a great performance by everyone today and we’re looking forward to the next round.”

In the Senior ESKC category, Henry Jenkins, Thomas Raw and Jaden Taylor of Dubai English Speaking College (DESC) 6 took top class honours with a third-place finish overall. Swiss International Scientific Dubai (SISD) Senior was second in class with a fifth-place overall finish.
Thomas Raw of DESC 6 remarked, “The start was a little bit iffy, but I think we made that up in the race and came home with a good result.”
