FUTURE KARTING STARS SHINE ON DAY ONE
Abdul Whab Al Habsi Crowned Dubai O Plate Bambino Champion
Dubai, UAE, 20 January 2017: Day one of the 2017 Dubai O Plate Championship opened on Friday morning at Dubai Kartdrome with the youngest class, Bambino Comer 50cc, crowning a champion at the end of the day while other classes competed for their starting grids tomorrow.
Abdul Whab Al Habsi, driving with a Birel Art chassis, was unstoppable throughout the event, topping three out of four time trials and taking home the honoured yellow O plate of Bambino Champion.
When Al Habsi was asked about how he felt about becoming the 2017 Bambino champ, he answered directly and with a big smile, “Very good!”
Freddie Housley was right in the mix and earned enough points in the four time trials to take home the second place trophy. Bertie Gibbons claimed third.
Other classes also raced on the day, but all of them will have to battle it out tomorrow to determine this year’s O Plate Champions.
