Dubai, UAE, 4 February 2018: Zachary Stimpson and Abdul Wahab Al Habsi waged a back and forth kart battle over the course of four time-trial heats on Saturday (3 February) at the Dubai Kartdrome, with each competitor winning two heats. Stimpson’s fastest lap of the day decided the tiebreaker and gave him the Round Four victory as well as the championship lead.

Omani racer Abdul Wahab Al Habsi was quickest early in the day. He took two narrow victories over Zachary Stimpson and appeared certain to claim the round.
However, Stimpson dug deep and delivered two stellar performances of his own to come back and take the remaining the two heats, both over Al Habsi, with Ben Gibbons trailing in for third.

With two heat triumphs each, Stimpson and Al Habsi finished the day tied on 190 points. Stimpson’s fastest lap of 1:16.003 in heat four was also the fastest of the day, enough to give him the tie-breaking edge. Despite skilled drives early on, Al Habsi had to settle for a second-place trophy.

Best-of-the-rest was Kareem Azzi, who racked up 156 points on the day, just beating out Ben Gibbons by two points to take third place.
After four rounds, Azzi is currently second in the championship with Stimpson leading. There are two rounds remaining in the 2017-2018 Dubai Bambino Cup. Round Five will be held on Saturday, 3 March 2018 at Dubai Kartdrome.

David Bright, Manager of Dubai Kartdrome, remarked, “We’ve witnessed a great contest so far and it’s encouraging to see Emirati racers in the mix, as well as Abdul Wahab Al Habsi, who traveled all of the way from Oman to challenge the race.”
“Congratulations to Zachary Stimpson for never giving up and taking a close victory in the very last heat of the day.”
Bright added, “Concepts employed in the series, such as pooling together and swapping of the IAME engines, ensures a level playing field for all of competitors. This has made the Dubai Bambino Cup a very popular series in the UAE.”
