Dubai Autodrome Karting Festival
31 May, 2021. The inaugural 2021 Dubai Autodrome Karting Festival made history by hosting the very first karting motorsport event on the Dubai Autodrome FIA Grade 1 circuit which attracted karting competitors and enthusiasts from around the UAE, GCC and Europe. The action-packed festival started on Wednesday 26th May with Dubai Kartdrome Ironman sessions, followed by Kart Owner Time Attacks run by Rotax UAE, whilst on Thursday the stage was set for Sodi World Series races and further Rotax Kart Owner Time Attack sessions.
Various parts of the Club Circuit and Hill Circuit were used to create a fast 1.13 km configuration that included spectacular gradients, long straights and ultimately a challenging lap to test the most skilled karter.
“We’re ecstatic to be able to bring a new challenge and circuit to the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship for the very first time since its inception in 2011.” Said Dubai Autodrome General Manager, Faisal Al Sahlawi.
While Dubai Kartdrome Manager & Race Director, David Bright said, “Our primary objective was to create a new circuit configuration which tested the more experienced karters while still allowing newbies to enjoy their experience. The race held a significant challenge as operations were still simultaneously ongoing at Dubai Kartdrome Outdoor and Indoor venues. The entire team consistently put in late hours and worked tirelessly from Sunday morning throughout the week till the race ended on Saturday morning.”

Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship – Powered by EBC Brakes attracted a strong 31 team grid all eager to get to grips on the purpose-built Karting circuit configuration nick named “The Dubai Autodrome Links”.
The configuration included two long straights that provided plenty of slip streaming entertainment for competitors. This in turn forged various team alliances and strategies that resulted in the top 25 teams qualifying within 1-second from each other, while the entire grid was separated by just 2-seconds. During the endurance race itself, the top 20-teams swapped fastest laps countless times. The race was unfortuntley called off at 4:28 am due to foggy conditions and the results were awarded at the time of the red flag.
The shortened race did not take away from the accomplishment of Overall Category victors Stop & Go Racing Team who made the trip to Dubai from Portugal. Dojo Moto and Cedar Racing Team took second and third spots respectively and continued their superb race craft and consistency.
Eagle 1 Racing took a strong fourth place overall, narrowly behind Cedar Racing Team while MIRGAP Racing took the top honours in the GCC Category.
Fly EGKC took off and landed in the top spot securing the win in the Corporate category.
Round 3 of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship – Powered by EBC Brakes is scheduled for October 2021 (exact date TBC) returning to the Dubai Kartdrome’ Switchback with Hill Circuit configuration. While the famous 24H Round 4 is scheduled in December. (Date TBC).
